A Gut Check in Priorities: A Brief Message from Izzie

Life is truly short. Make it as meaningful as possible.

Hi friends,

This will be a brief version of our newsletter since I just returned from the funeral of a dear uncle.

One of the most important things I was reminded of this week was this: no amount of planning or preparation will be enough to take a disruption like an accident or the death of someone close to you. My uncle was a gem of a man, a role model, and such a positive person in our lives. He battled lung cancer for only six weeks before succumbing to his illness.

As we chug along, making progress toward our goals, scheduling our tasks, and mapping out our days, it's nearly impossible to anticipate something like that. So we have to be able to take it one day at a time when we receive word of something life-changing.

A gut check in priorities becomes very clear: quality of life, mental and physical health, and quality time take precedence over anything else. Life is too damn short to focus on things that don’t matter to you.

Make meaningful connections. Take care of your brain and body. Spend time with your favorite humans doing your favorite things. Create memories. Laugh. Big belly ones. Cook your favorite recipe. Make a mess. Record videos and photos of your loved ones. Cherish the conversations. Love boldly.

I'll leave you with this: hold your family and friends close to your heart. Call them, send them a check-in text message, or, if you can, visit them. That time spent with them will always be worth it. Fill each other's cups with joy and memories.

We will resume our regular newsletter schedule next week. Thank you for allowing me the space to write this message to you today.

My warmest wishes,

Izzie
